Butterflies!!!

As I'm sure you've figured out by now, I LOVE butterflies. So is it any surprise that when we were in Branson I insisted we visit The Butterfly Palace?

We took so many pictures of the beautiful butterflies that I didn't know how to fit them all on this page. So, of course I turned to some layout magazines I have for inspiration and found the small tile idea and from there this page took flight (pun intended :) ).

The background paper for this page is actually from the cottage wall DSP. There is a very similar page that is all in green tones- which using PSE I was able to turn into an overlay. Neat right? Without getting into to many details, the trick is to make the swirls and butterflies black and then delete out the lighter green background, save as a .png and you have a homemade stamp! Can you imagine the endless possibilities!

On the right-hand page I  created the butterfly embellishment by using a purple punch with a lighter purple butterfly stamped on top of it. It is the best way I have found to give my butterfly bunches "ears".

Hope this page gives you inspiration for you "need to fit it all in" layouts, and remember to flutterby again soon!

{B} is for Baby

Here's "an oldie but a goody" card design. I know it has been around quite awhile (and I have no clue who originally made it) but it is just so sweet for a little baby.

I love how the punch art makes such a cute little dresser. Here are the punches that went into this babe: Curly Label, Modern label (I used a punch-out in order to "shade" the green part of the drawers instead of actually mounting the punch), and the scalloped edge border punch.

I kept this card gender neutral, cause I don't know yet who I will need to give this card to, but you could easily switch it up and make it pink or blue if you knew a little girl/boy was on the way. Also, I've seen the right-hand side made to look like a crib or a quilt hanging on the wall- cute and easy ways to switch up the card a little.

Have a great rest of the weekend and flutterby again soon!

Fore!

My in-laws are a huge golfing family. When they go on vacation they usually play multiple games, and this trip was no different. I only went with on one of the outings this time- and of course I picked the coldest one to join :) But it was also extremely beautiful and I loved the fall scenery. But I should just let the pictures tell the story:

Do you see the deer? I couldn't believe there was an entire herd of them on course that day, just munching away at their lunch and ignoring us.

I love how in MDS you can use a picture as your background paper. Nice large images like that can be stunning sometimes, and this landscape was definitely one I wanted to highlight.

Hope you had a great Fourth of July, and enjoy the weekend!

Strawberry Shortcake

Need a card that screams summer? Then this is the one for you! I love how the strawberry looks so delicious even though it is just paper :)

Who would have thought that you could make such a summery card using a christmas punch... that's right- the main part of this strawberry is made from the ornament punch! It is then run through the polka dot impression folder. The green "stem" is made from two parts- the scalloped circle punch and then the branch from the bird punch. Last but not least is the cute little flower from the boho blossoms punch.

I actually received this card indirectly through a swap, so Thanks Traci Finseth for sharing such a cute card!

Happy Birthday

Well, my birthday was actually awhile ago, but I came across this card I got for my birthday and thought it was worth sharing :)

It is so simple, yet so very cute, and just my style. I never would have thought to use the little piece of ribbon behind the cardstock as an accent like that, but I love the way it adds to the card. And the flower is just so cute- I may just have to use it on a photoframe or something so that I can keep it around :) Look closely at the leaves- they were run through a crimper to add a little pizazz. So much fun.

Have a great Fourth of July this week! Then, be sure to stop by for some more MDS pages from my trip. I'm making good progress on the book (finally) so I've got a lot to share!
