Creative Inking Blog Hop: New Catalog Pretties

Welcome to the June Creative Inking Blog Hop!

This month we are showing off all sorts of goodies from the New Catalog! Have you seen this gem yet? If not, make sure you are ready to drool while you page through it. It is gorgeous!!!

One of the first stamps sets I NEEDED to have was Swirly Bird, and the matching framelits of course :) This set has so many possibilities- and I loved the swirls so much- reminded me of the Paper Pumpkin die-cuts that we had a few months back. So very pretty! And to make it even sweeter, you can get the two together as a bundle and save 10%. **happy dance**

Lucky for me, this bundle was on the preorder for demos, so I've had extra time to play with it, and I planned my class around it this month. Check out the fun variety of cards we made:

If you look closely, you'll also noticed that all the colors here are unfamiliar. That is because these cards all use the new In Colors. Aren't they yummy :) My favorite is Peek-a-boo Peach... but I'm extremely partial to anything resembling orange, so it isn't really much of a contest ;)

For today's hop, check out the details of the first kite card.

I'm loving the vellum 'wind' lines in the background. And it was so much fun to watercolor the one cloud.  Fun story- the first time I saw the stamp set I absolutely could not figure out what 'those triangles' were for. I couldn't in my head see that they were to be combined to form the kit. When someone told me it was a complete "DUH!" moment for me.

Here it is from a little bit different of an angle. You can see my vellum is really just kind of floating on it's layer on the card. I only attached it down in a couple spots where the glue would hide behind the kite and clouds. Makes it nice and wispy! The real ribbon ties also add an element of dimension to the card (although there is a stamped tie as well- which could be used for the kit or the bird... but it is SMALL so be very careful not to loose it!!).

Hope you enjoyed this card. Flutterby again soon to see details from more of the designs ;)

Now off you hop to see what Kristine has prepared for us today.

And just in case you are still into digital crafting after the end of MDS, check out my prior blog post for a digital freebie!

Scraps N Pieces June Blog Train

So for those of you that are my usual readers... I've been trying out something new. Ever since My Digital Studio was discontinued I've been looking for a new way to continue digital scrapbooking. Eventually I landed with using Photoshop Elements, even though it has a much steeper learning curve than some other choices like MMS.

I found that the Scraps N Pieces community has been a great help with that. They offer some free classes- one for beginner scrapbooking with Photoshop, and two different technique classes. Then, they also have a designer mentoring class. I decided to give it a try since I've been having so much fun with their other classes- and I knew I would continue learning a ton, even if I don't have the time commitment to become a full designer. It has been an amazing experience so far!

As a little extra practice I decided to give their blog train a try this month. So here are some freebies you can use in your digital scrapbooking :) I enjoyed creating them for you!

Now jump on the train and go pick up all the other freebies!

I'm loving these new enamel shapes. The metalics are my fav, but they also come in all the color families as well!

Creative Inking Blog Hop: Saying Goodbye

Welcome to the Creative Inking Blog Hop!

This month we will be saying goodbye to some of our favorite stamps sets, which will be sorely missed when they retire at the end of the month. So hop along with us- see what lovely things are leaving us- and make sure there aren't any last minute must haves for you too ;)

Now, with my love of all things butterfly, the Swallowtail stamp is the retiring favorite I will be missing the most. Just take a stroll on Pinterest to see some of the beauties made with this image and you'll see why I'm having a hard time letting it go.

My card was given to Mom on Mother's Day, but you could really use this design for any card. Switch it out to say "Happy Birthday" or "Thanks" or any of the other sayings you can think of using the Crazy About You stamp set and Hello You thinlits.

I love how the butterfly really looks like it is flying off the page :) I stamped the Swallowtail in Espresso and used sponge daubers to add color to it. Then I cut it out and mounted it on the Soft Sky background only along the body. I curled the wings off the page using a bone folder. And can you see the shimmer added by Wink of Stella? That product isn't retiring, but is a must have for everyone!!

The lattice work on the front, and the inside of the card I created using Summer Silhouettes stamp set, which is another favorite of mine that is retiring. This set was one of the first things I ordered the year it was introduced! It is so fun to build the bursts of flowers using the stems, different petals, and leaves available in this set.

Once again, they wouldn't be complete without a little 'wink'. I think I may be a tiny bit addicted to this beautiful tool. Hehe!

I hope you enjoyed today's card. Be sure to flutterby again soon!

Now hop along and enjoy the projects everyone has created for you!

Paper Pumpkin Bonus Stamp Set

Last month Paper Pumpkin celebrated it's birthday and milestone subscriber count by including an extra stamp set "All About Everything"- and I like 'everything' about it ;) It has some beautiful watercolored flowers in it, and lots of fun sayings centered around the word 'everything'. So much fun!

I pulled it out to make a quick Mother's Day card for my mother-in-law (you'll see my mother's card here very soon...). I am just ticked pink with how it turned out!

I stuck with a spring pastel color palette, and then added a pop of color with a piece of ruffled ribbon I had left-over. I love the butterfly texture folder in the background too- I think it adds just the perfect amount of dressiness.

Instead of using a sentiment from the 'everything' kit, I opted for a something a little more traditional for the mother's day purpose. I found the perfect saying in the Garden in Bloom stamp set. "Hope You're Feeling Special Today...". Isn't that just cute for the occasion?!

Creative Inking Blog Hop: Springing Into Flowers

It's time again for another Creative Inking Blog Hop!

Today we are going to be celebrating spring with flowers galore!

Which of course brings to mind my favorite product suite right now- Botanical Gardens! And now that the retiring list has been released we know it will be staying around into next year! *Insert Happy Dance Here*

Last month I did an entire class featuring this stamp set, and I thought today would be a great day to showcase what we did. So get ready for some eye candy :)

They stationary kit all fits into a little box made with the envelope punch board.

And then it is exploding with beautiful cards! I think the pictures for all of these are pretty self explanatory today- so I'll just let you enjoy pouring over the close up photos :)

I would love to know which one is your favorite! Let me know in the comments :)

Now hop on over and see what springy treat Kristine has prepared for us today!

Or go back and see BJ's beautiful creations!

Creative Inking Blog Hop: #ImBringingBirthdaysBack

Welcome to the next round of the Creative Inking Blog Hop!

Today we are joining Shannon West from Stampin' Up! in her #imbringingbirthdaysback initiative (for those of you who don't speak hashtag- that is I'm Bringing Birthday's Back :) ). So today is all about birthday cards!

For my part, I just made an awesome card at a shoebox swap designed by Michelle Lembcke (aka Mom!) that I just had to share with you guys today. It is a birthday card and a fun fold AND uses the Botanical Gardens (my current fav). Check it out!

Flat out of the envelope it looks like your typical card. But don't try to open this one- instead pop it forward into a square and stand it up as a display!

Isn't that just fun! Here is a top view so you can see the dimension a little better too:

I love how the center circle pops out from the corner of the card. And the technique is really quite simple to master actually. Just check it out over at the Splitcoast Stamping community.

Now hop along with our birthday hop. And join the movement- let's all start sending some birthday cheer :)
