Butterfly Thinlit Dies

The Butterfly Thinlit Dies was another item on my MUST HAVE list from the Occasions catalog. You know me and my obsession with butterflies. Gorgeous!

I haven't had a chance to use mine yet, but I did help my Mom cut out her butterflies for this swap card (and my little man did the cranking on the big shot- he actually cried when we were done he loved it so much!).

The butterfly for this card is cut out of the brushed gold cardstock. I love the subtle shimmer it has. I think it is really creative that she used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to create the gate fold on her card. This set of dies comes with an adorable little bag template, as well as lots of little extras to spruce it up with. I can't wait to try it out myself :)

Using a Stamp as a Punch

I want to let you in on a secret about the .svg style stamps (which are any of the new ones- so long as they are not super granular). You can use most of these as a punch as well!

Here's a page from my Christmas Album that demonstrates this:

The Merry Christmas title comes from the Merry Woodcuts kit. This kit comes with both woodcut embellishments and stamps to match. I toyed around with using the woodcut on this page, but it was just to pale for my personal preference. So then I decided to have a little fun :)

I added it as a stamp in the Crumb Cake color, and then covered it with a chevron background stamp in Chocolate Chip. However, as you can see, I 'cropped' the chevron punch to only show where it was  above my stamp.

In order to do this I went out to where my stamp was stored on my harddrive and copied it into my punches folder. Then, on the stamp I did a crop to shape option- picking the "punch" I had just created! After that all it took was a little playing to line them up together the same size :)

Such a cool feature to give your solid stamps a little texture- like the rubber stamp 'kissing' technique!

I featured this in a video awhile back that you can see HERE as well :)

You Plus Me Valentine

I had seen this card on pinterest and had to create something similar for myself.

I am loving the You Plus Me stamp set and matching Stacked with Love papers from the Occasions catalog, so I went with that as the theme. I also picked our large Sweetheart punch for the 'holes'.

Here is what I came up with. I'm just tickled pink with how it turned out! (get it- pink for Valentine's day :) )

I love how it looks like a banner of hearts across the card :)

The patterned paper is a half sheet from the paper stack, and then I matted it in Crisp Cantaloupe. The You Plus Me is also stamped in Cantaloupe with a red border sponged around (the image isn't quite big enough to fill the scalloped circle punch, but this hides that so no one will know!). And I'm loving this new cotton ribbon- it tied so much nicer than the grosgrain ever did. It is nice and soft- if you haven't tried some yet you've got to get it!

Valentine's Day Garland

Yesterday I shared with you a snippet of what I worked on last weekend. I was inspired to add a little love to the garland on my fireplace mantle. I like to leave the pines up all winter, but wanted to spruce it up for February :)

So I sat down with all my heart punches and the You Plus Me stamp set to see what I could come up with. Soon Declan saw me crafting and HAD to be a part of it. He became the snail operator :)

And what would craft time be without my girly to help out too! Of course she saw me taking pictures and wanted to help with that part. Here are the close-ups of her ponies…

She actually took a couple decent ones of my craft stuff too. For instance, have you seen these adorable little hearts yet (they've been popping up all over pinterest). To get them you punch with the heart border punch, and then from the remaining paper punch the small heart out around the hole. Cool huh?

After sticking everything together, here is what I came up with. I'm loving it!

And here is the whole thing (click the picture to zoom).

My Christmas Album is Done!

Okay, maybe I shouldn't shout too loud... afterall it is 2013 that I finished. But any progress for me is good progress with my two little munchkins at home :)

I used the Daily December Photobook template to get me started- I liked the 'almost' Project Life look to it. However, I wanted my book to look more Christmas-y and less winter-y, so I swapped out all the papers and elements for those in the Season of Style line (papers, embellishments, pocket cards). It turned out CUTE!

Here is one of my favorite layouts. Man did these two love boxes :)

I love how sweet my little Elli was being with her brother that day. He just had to be in the box with her- she didn't want him to miss out :)

Best Day Ever

I just had an awesome day at our Stamp n Share recently, so this card pretty much sums it up :)

It was a swap card I received from Traci Finseth. Isn't it cute! It features the Best Day Ever stamp set... oh and did I mention that this stamp set is FREE!!

Yes that is right. It is Sale-a-bration time of year again, so with every $50 order you get to pick something for free from the flyer. This was one of my top picks! There is also a paper pack and some buttons & ribbons that all coordinate. Yay!

This card is actually featured right in the brochure, but I love how Traci added her own touches with the orange punched border at the bottom of the tag and the punched flower. Adorable :)

Wish Big Birthday

Ever since Stampin' Up! improved the contents of the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit I have been in love! They are just so fun to do and I love that they come with everything I need (read- I don't have to dig around in my craft room to decide on supplies why my kids get antsy).

And now that they offer refill kits it is WONDERFUL because it means I can experiment with more projects to make with the kit and then share them in a class setting :) This month I used the Wish Big kit for a Birthday card class and had so much fun creating with it. Just check out all we did.

First everyone got to make one card and box per the instructions (or at least really close):

Then this is where it got fun. I gathered up some ideas from pinterest and mashed them all together to come up with extras to make. Like this adorable full size card:

And we also made a set of gift tag size cards in a cute little box. The one with the dangling star is my absolute favorite!

Want to create along with me? The only supplies I needed outside the kit for this class where:
Whisper White Paper
Blackberry Bliss Paper
2 1/2" Circle Punch
Lucky Stars Texture Folder
Dimensionals

You Plus Me

This was the first set I HAD to HAVE from the Occasions catty. I just think it is so cute! And I love it when products like the papers coordinate. It makes creating so easy :) So I of course got the bundle.

I got to try it out right away to make a swap card for my Diva Stampers meeting. My mom had shown me this fun fold pattern, and I knew I wanted to use that too (stay tuned- I will explain the fold in another post!)

Doesn't that make for a fun card :) I think the black and red are really crisp on the white background. Can't wait to give this away for Valentine's Day!

I got a ton of cool swaps in return, so be sure to flutterby again soon to see more spring-y ideas :)

Update: I was going to put together a tutorial for this card- but my wonderful group leader already has an awesome video! Can't beat that- so check it out HERE :)

Many Merry Stars Boxes

I know Christmas is over already, but this Many Merry Stars kit is on the Clearance Rack- so it would be a great time to get it and save for next year!

When I saw the star boxes in the supplement I just KNEW that I had to make them. They are so pretty! I ended up splitting a pack with my Mom, cause it was just to many for me to do myself. And it really turned out the perfect size! All you need outside the kit is glue to attach all the embellishments (I highly suggest Tombow- and maybe some sticky strip to make the tiny boxes extra secure).

Isn't my little star display darling. I just love it on the bookcase :)
